To be a Woman

She may appear as a lady of leisure, not achieving anything particularly productive. And yet she is. She is feeding her child. She is helping flowers to grow. She is expressing her beauty. She is adding light to the world. 
In the early days of motherhood, my previous resistance towards getting stuck in ‘traditional’ female roles (ie. nurturing, child-raising, homemaking) was challenged a lot. I realised that it was all in my power - whether or not I let myself be oppressed by stereotypes. I began to see my natural tendencies and skills as my superpowers, rather than restrictive roles. It is in the nature of the feminine to tend to things like a garden - to tend to our children, relationships, creations, community, homes, and projects. The nurturing nature of the feminine force is what brings the world to life. And even if this skillset doesn’t always translate into a pay check, I learned to accept and embrace my nature. I began to feel that what I’m doing is actually the most important job there is, and a highly valuable contribution to society.
